Add Wireless to Mangrum Field

Description

AT&T will be installing new infrastructure on Mangrum Field in support of a new cell tower. Working with PD&C, IITS will have access to new conduit from Craven Road to Mangrum Field. IITS will install a new fiber backbone from Craven MDF to Mangrum Field in support of a new, permanent wireless infrastructure to support campus athletics and a 20 Gbit-capable wired infrastructure for Commencement and other activities as needed. Project will include installation of four (4) permanent access points on newly installed light poles plus one (1) at the scoreboard. Lastly, the Mangrum network hut will serve as the distribution point for all future athletics development at the fields.

Status Update

03/19/2019: Project completed

03/19/2019: Power deployment completed and track wireless is available. Technology Spotlight - Wireless at the Mangrum Track and Field

02/28/2019: Power deployment to the hut by the electricians currently in progress.

02/22/2019: Commscope hardware was purchased and installed on mangrum field Wireless aps are mounted on all 4 poles Waiting for power in AT&T hut to power commscope and AP equipment. ETA for power would be last week on February based off Electrician timeline.

11/27/2018: Parts are on order. Power is still needed at the site. Moved projected completion date to Feb 2019.

11/27/2018: Extended the delivery date to Spring 2019 to include all sports fields. Quotes have been acquired for remaining work. IITS will continue to build out the wireless infrastructure once vendors complete their projects/tasks.

05/02/2018: TelcomTec installed fiber cable from Craven MDF to Mangrum. Installation completed & tested.
