Evaluate Hosting LMS

Description

This campus has been using moodle for many years. Recently, moodle has been difficult to stabilize due to the nature of the product and the number of "plug-ins" incorporated. A separate project is evaluating the cost to move Moodle to the cloud where we can expand or contract resources as necessary to meet demand. This project is proposing to look campus needs and common uses with respect to LMSs and evaluate whether or not the campus should consider shifting to another LMS product suite.

Status Update

07/09/2019: Budget request made, waiting on approval.

12/04/2018: Informal polling among faculty by members of TPAC are showing reluctance to consider a move to another LMS. This, coupled with the fact that we seem to have stabilized moodle with the most recent change, mean that the urgency behind this has lessened.

10/22/2018: Presentation by UCSD Academic Technology leadership regarding campus evaluation process used to select a new Learning Management System. UCSD will be converting to Canvas from Blackboard in 2019. TPAC members requested planning materials and survey.
