Fall '21 - Classroom Readiness

Description

As we look to reactivate classrooms and labs, IITS is examining ways to create flexible instructional spaces that offer faculty a range of pedagogical capabilities. Specifically, we are in the process of installing cameras, microphones, and digital whiteboards to support Live and Online courses. A total of 60 (out of a total of 170) classrooms will be upgraded by Fall. (Note: Classrooms in the Extended Learning Building and ViaSat Engineering Building have many of these capabilities already -- excluding the tracking cameras and mic systems.)

Status Update

03/22/2021:

Budget has been approved with a scope of 60 classrooms targeted for deployment of Live & Online technologies in time for Fall '21.

03/05/2021:

The Vice Provost's Office and the Academic Senate hosted two faculty informational sessions on Live & Online format and related technologies.  The department chairs meeting occurred on February 25th and the Academic Senate session on March 5th.

4.2 CSUSM commits to modern technology, balancing fiscal sustainability with priorities for technological currency.

4.3 CSUSM responds to unique needs, deploying discipline-specific technology in classroom, research, and laboratory spaces.
